![]() We saw several alligators, lots of birds, and learned a great deal about the ecology of the swamps. Transportation was provided to and from the hotel, which was convenient, but expect a long day. We got to hold a small alligator as Dewey explained alligator nesting and hatching. We saw water fowl, a tree owl, and multiple alligators up close, several of which came up to the boat looking for marshmallows. He was extremely knowledgeable about nature and the local wildlife. The small airboat swamp tour lead by Dewey was phenomenal. Overall though, it was what I expected, so I wasn’t disappointed. With so many people, you couldn’t see everything and when you got to look, it felt rushed. There were 33 people, plus the guide, so we were packed into the hot rooms. ![]() The rooms in the house were small, some of which you could not enter but only view from the doorway, so I would have preferred if the group size for the tour time would have been less. ![]() The tour wasn’t long, but it was informative and it focused mostly on the family who originally built the house and the subsequent owners. There was plenty of time to tour the grounds of Oak Alley on your own before and after the guided tour of the main house.
